As writers, we tend to live in our solitary caves, but sometimes, we need help. That’s when other writers are so useful. I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve sent an email or text to a writer friend and received an immediate response with the answer I needed. “I need a name for a male character.” Within minutes I have ten to pick from. “Where should my characters have sex? Kitchen or back deck?” A text like that usually elicits several more questions about the type of book and the current setting and then a slew of alternative suggestions. Great fun! Other problems like “Why am I doing this?” or “I hate marketing my books. Why must I do it?” Bring immediate supportive and encouraging comments that get me down off the ledge. I’m not sure if you all have a group that does this for you, but I highly recommend it. Writers Rock!
